After The FAll

Peter Krause may be making his Broadway debut in the Roundabout Theater revival of Arthur Miller's "After the Fall," which is to open at the American Airlines Theater on June 25, but he has already paid his dues. Years before Mr. Krause became an Emmy-nominated star of HBO's "Six Feet Under," he served drinks and hawked candy in Broadway theaters. "At intermission it was a zoo," he said. "You have to pour fast." And hearing the scores of "Cats" and "Starlight Express" more than 100 times could drive anyone up the wall. "One night at 'Cats,' I remember smelling something backstage, so I ducked my head back there and saw a cat smoking pot," Mr. Krause said by phone from Los Angeles. "After 500 performances you got to do what you have to do." Mr. Krause will play Quentin, the tortured lawyer who is usually considered a stand-in for Mr. Miller in this play, commonly assumed to be based on his marriage to Marilyn Monroe. Jason Robards played the role in the original 1964 Broadway production. Return to Theatre or "Six Feet Under" |
